Basketball
The Lake Houston Conquerors offer competitive homeschool basketball with a Christian spirit. Our goal is to utilize basketball to build character, surround our children with Godly mentors who will sow into their lives, and to be faithful witnesses of our Christian faith.
Ages
9 to 18 years as of Sep 1st
*8-year-olds should speak to the basketball coordinator for consideration
When
The season begins with tryouts on September 8 and 11 and ends with a regional tournament in February.
Where
Practices and home games are held at The Gym - 2325 Atascocita Rd, Humble, TX 77396. Away games can be up to two hours from The Gym in Houston and surrounding areas.
Practices
There will be two practices a week (Monday & Thursday) until games begin per court availability. Once games begin we try to still have practice once a week but not at the expense of missing an opportunity to play a game.
Games
Games usually start the first week of November, but occasionally we might have a late October game or tournament. There is a possibility that our Varsity teams will attend the Homeschool Basketball Nationals in March.
Uniforms
Uniform costs are estimated to be in the range of $65-$90 depending on the age group. Varsity teams may have the additional cost of purchasing team shooting shirts.
Fees
$400 for ages 10 and under
$500 for ages 11-12
$625 for ages 13-14
$650 for ages 15-18
*This does not include the cost of the uniforms, which will be purchased later.

Extra Costs
Various extra costs throughout the season include:

Volunteer Expectations
We are a volunteer-run organization. As such, each family is expected to share the load of their team. Each team splits the following jobs among their families: admission table for home games, clock for home games, and book for home and away games. Training is provided.
In addition, each LHC family is required to volunteer 2 hours during our annual Tip-Off tournament.
Coaches
Head coaches and assistant coaches are volunteers. They are selected via the basketball coordinator are background checked.
A discount is offered to all coaches and assistant coaches.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if there is not a team?
Every effort will be made to make a team. We will pull up from younger age groups if possible, to fill a team. BUT we will not deplete the younger team to fill the older team. IF no team is made due to lack of registrations, then your fees will be returned.
Are there tryouts?
Yes, the coaches and basketball director will assess the players' abilities during the first 2 practices and select their roster numbering between 7-12 players. However, the coach is not required to carry a full roster if he/she feels a player is not developed enough to compete at their age level.
Why set limits?
This allows the coaches to develop the players better. The smaller team sizes offer the teams a more manageable size allowing for more playing time for each member of the team as well as improving the opportunities for player development.
