Track and Field
If your family is looking for a homeschool track and field team in the Houston, Kingwood, or Atascocita area, we’d love for you to join us! The Lake Houston Conquerors Track & Field program is a faith-based homeschool athletics team that helps youth athletes grow in skill, strength, and spirit — all while having fun and glorifying God through sport.
Ages
The Lake Houston Conquerors Track & Field program offers competitive opportunities for both middle school and high school homeschool athletes in the Houston area.
- Middle School (MS) athletes must be 10 to 14 years old on August 1 of the school year.
- High School (HS) athletes must not be older than 18 years old on August 1 of the school year.
Our goal is to help student-athletes grow in faith, discipline, and teamwork through a Christian homeschool track and field program that encourages both character and competition.
When and Where We Practice
We practice at Creekwood Middle School on West Lake Houston Parkway.
- Middle School practices are held on Mondays.
- High School practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 4:30–6:00 or 6:30 pm, depending on daylight.
Athletes meet by the trees in the parking lot. Occasionally, coaches may hold extra sessions for field events, jumping, or relay teams, often on Friday evenings.
Our practices are designed to prepare athletes for sprint, distance, and field event training — offering the same quality experience as larger youth track and field programs while maintaining a faith-based, homeschool community atmosphere.
Meets
Our teams compete in local homeschool track meets and private school events across the Houston area.
- Middle School meets are often on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 4:00–8:00/9:00 pm, with some Saturday meets.
- High School meets are primarily on Saturdays, beginning with field events around 8:00–9:00 am and running events around noon.
Each meet is unique, and coaches email details 5–7 days prior. We typically compete in 6–7 meets per season, including the Texas Homeschool State Track Meet.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. I have no idea what events my athlete wants to do!
That’s okay! We encourage middle school athletes to try a variety of events. Coaches help each athlete discover their strengths across sprints, distance running, and field events.
2. What events do you offer?
Athletes compete in a wide range of track and field events, including:
- Sprints: 100m, 200m, 400m
- Middle Distance: 800m
- Long Distance: 1200m, 2400m, 3200m
- Relays: 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m
- Hurdles: 100/110m, 300m
- Field Events: Long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, shot put, and javelin
- We even welcome volunteers to coach specialized events like pole vault!
3. Why can’t my athlete run the 100m?
Each meet limits entries per event. Coaches select athletes for each event based on time trials and performance. If your athlete wants to run the 100m, encourage them to train early to earn that spot.
4. What can my athlete do to get a chance to compete?
Training is key!
- Distance runners should run 4–5 miles per day several times a week and include interval training.
- Sprinters should focus on speed, jumping, and agility drills.
- We also need athletes for less crowded events such as hurdles, throws, and high jump.
5. What kind of commitment do parents need to make?
We depend on parent involvement! Parents can:
- Help athletes stay consistent with home training.
- Volunteer as assistant coaches or event helpers.
- Participate in our LHC Invitational Meet each April — a fun, full-day event for both MS and HS teams, and a chance to celebrate our seniors.
6. What should we bring to a meet?
Athletes should bring:
- Water and snacks
- Warm layers (weather can change fast!)
- Sunscreen and hats
- Schoolwork or activities for downtime
- Parents may want folding chairs and cash for concessions or entry fees.
Spring 2026
Registration will begin in December.
